Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Neilberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Jam!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neilberg lands with a right hand.
Jam uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Neilberg.
Neilberg keeps the fight on the outside.
Neilberg lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jam circles away quickly and effectively.
Jam wants to clinch up but Neilberg keeps it at a distance.
Jam is looking to clinch.
Neilberg misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jam doesn't manage to clinch there - Neilberg circles away.
Neilberg throws out a loose jab but Jam uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mark Neilberg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jam gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Neilberg won't allow Jam to sweep him here.

Neilberg is riding his opponent, not letting Jam buck him off.
Neilberg has the hooks in. Jam is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Jam trying to get back to his feet but Neilberg is in full control for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jam is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Neilberg gets his hands free as Jam looks to control.
Jam has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Jam looks gassed!
Neilberg is hanging on to Jam's back as he tries to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neilberg controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jam is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Neilberg dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Neilberg scores with a jab to the jaw.
Jam wants to clinch up but Neilberg keeps it at a distance.
Neilberg throws a head kick that misses.
Jam takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Neilberg has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jam finds it's way round the side to connect with Neilberg's head.
Neilberg throws the kick towards the body but Jam avoids it.
Neilberg throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jam is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Neilberg shoots in looking for a takedown. Jam tries to sprawl out of it but Neilberg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jam manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Neilberg fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jam manages to avoid it.
Neilberg goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Neilberg closes the distance and clinches.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ben Jam is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jam takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Neilberg uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jam has time to react.
Neilberg moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Jam avoids a punch combination nicely.
Neilberg lands a with a good body shot.
Neilberg misses with a head kick.
Neilberg misses with a takedown attempt - Jam sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jam moves in looking to clinch but Neilberg pushes him off.
Jam goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Jam lands an elbow just above Neilberg 's eye.
Jam is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Neilberg is defending well for now.

Neilberg scores with a one two! Jam had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jam creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Jam tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Neilberg avoids it.
Neilberg is trying to break free.
Jam misses with an elbow over the top.
Neilberg tries to circle away but Jam has him pinned against the cage.
Jam throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Neilberg dodges an elbow strike from Jam.

Neilberg wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Jam slows down the pace here.
Neilberg has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jam avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jam using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Neilberg has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Jam lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Jam tries to clinch but Neilberg is having none of it.
Neilberg misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Neilberg tries to clinch up but Jam circles away and keeps his distance.

Jam gets caught flat footed, as Neilberg shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Neilberg wants to pass the guard but Jam is keeping the position.
Neilberg wants to stand but Jam has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Jam wants to stand but Neilberg is controlling the position.

Neilberg decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jam steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Neilberg.
Neilberg takes a jab right on the kisser.
Neilberg tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jam swivels and escapes.
Jam fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Jam clinches with his opponent.

Jam manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jam can do anything to dispel that myth.
Neilberg stops Jam from standing up.
Neilberg is standing up over Jam. Jam looks to escape but Neilberg dives into side control.
Jam trying to control but Neilberg flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Neilberg is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

Jam manages to reverse the position and now he's in Neilberg's guard. Nice work there by Jam.

Jam has gone for a leg lock! Neilberg slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jam's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Neilberg.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Neilberg, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
