Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vitor Diniz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Rogers! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diniz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Diniz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Rogers closes the distance and pushes Diniz back into the cage. Rogers breaks the clinch.
Rogers tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diniz paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rogers throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Diniz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Diniz won't allow Rogers to get back to his feet. Diniz jumps back into Rogers's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diniz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rogers is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rogers has escaped and now he's on top! Diniz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rogers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Diniz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diniz keeping moving, preventing Rogers from controlling successfully. Diniz has his foot on Rogers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rogers works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rogers tries to free his leg and advance position but Diniz is retaining full guard. Rogers wants to stand but Diniz has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Diniz looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rogers puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Rogers wants to stand up but Diniz is controlling the position.
Diniz looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Diniz is breathing heavily. Rogers decides to return to a standing position. A clash of legs there as Diniz blocks the low kick. Rogers rushes Diniz and presses him up against the cage. Rogers pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rogers fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Diniz checks it well. Rogers throws a front kick that sends Diniz stumbling back into the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rogers leaves Diniz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Rogers throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Rogers bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Rogers decides to stand up, so the ref orders Diniz to his feet. Rogers takes the fight into the clinch. Rogers has Diniz pushed against the cage. Rogers is working Diniz over against the cage. Rogers is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rogers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Diniz has his takedown stuffed and Rogers counters with a head kick. That will keep Diniz thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Rogers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Diniz, pushing him back against the cage. Diniz is trying to drag Rogers to the mat but Rogers just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Diniz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rogers walks away with a smile on his face. Diniz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rogers takes the fight into the clinch. Rogers lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Rogers creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Diniz's defenses. A short left from Rogers. Rogers manages to break the clinch.
Jab, jab by Rogers - just one landing. Rogers explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Diniz crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rogers - the referee stops the clock and Diniz gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rogers. Diniz manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Rogers pushes Diniz up against the cage in a clinch. Diniz drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rogers throws the kick towards the body but Diniz avoids it. Diniz with a poor takedown and Rogers counters with a crisp one two that drops Diniz! Rogers thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Diniz to his feet! Diniz is in big trouble!
Diniz is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rogers closes the distance and clinches. Rogers misses with a knee to the head. Diniz goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rogers prevents it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rogers darts in and clinches Diniz up against the cage. Diniz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rogers pulls him back up using the underhooks. Diniz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rogers walks away with a smile on his face. Diniz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Danga de danga de dang - Rogers scores with a four punch combination!

Rogers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Diniz with a poor takedown and Rogers counters by moving into the clinch. Rogers lands a damaging elbow. Eric Rogers is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Rogers has taken the fight to the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Eric Rogers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Rogers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
