Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mon Key!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sunza Masto!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Key with that takedown attempt.
Key circles away from the clinch attempt.
Masto tries to clinch up but Key circles away and keeps his distance.
Masto tries to clinch but Key moves out of range.
Masto moves in looking to clinch but Key pushes him off.
Masto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Key swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Masto counters with a series of strikes. Key will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Masto counters with a left and a right that stings Key.

and Masto counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mon Key. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Key has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Masto off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Masto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Key swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mon Key seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Key shoots and misses
and Masto counters with a left and a right that stings Key.

Key shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Key with a flurry of punches that miss.
Key scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Key postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Key slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Masto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Key. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Key's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Key works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Key throwing shots but Masto is blocking nicely.

Masto tries to clinch but Key is having none of it.

Masto gets caught flat footed, as Key shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Key trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Key looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Key slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Masto looks gassed!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Key forces his way into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Key in particular looking to stall.
Key lands with a punch from half guard.
Key controlling the action here.
Masto pushes Key off looking to stand but Key dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mon Key dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Masto doesn't manage to clinch there - Key circles away.
Key shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Masto counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Masto.
Key has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Key is controlling Masto's posture.

Key looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Masto is breathing heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Key is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Key holds on and takes a little breather.

Key has his foot on Masto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Masto works his way back into a safe position though.
Masto must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Key has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Masto doesn't defend quickly enough and Key has managed to lock this one up! Can Masto escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Key on a fantastic submission victory.
