Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dave Kunhart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michal Budzyn! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Budzyn lands a left and a right that send Kunhart crashing to the mat, dazed. Budzyn thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Dave Kunhart has been cut. Kunhart looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Budzyn shoots in but no luck this time. Budzyn shoots in looking for a takedown. Kunhart tries to sprawl out of it but Budzyn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kunhart manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. No luck for Kunhart with that takedown attempt. Budzyn misses with a takedown attempt - Kunhart sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Dave Kunhart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michal Budzyn. Budzyn is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kunhart sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Budzyn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kunhart but Kunhart pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kunhart gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Budzyn looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Budzyn is pressed up against the cage. Kunhart has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Budzyn down to the mat. Budzyn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kunhart doesn't succeed with the takedown and Budzyn counters with a two punch combo. Budzyn tries to clinch but Kunhart moves out of range. Budzyn is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kunhart sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Budzyn fails with a takedown attempt from distance. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kunhart. Kunhart slaps away a takedown attempt from Budzyn, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kunhart drives through and clinches with Budzyn against the cage.
Budzyn fails to pull guard.
Kunhart gets a trip takedown into half guard. Kunhart could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Kunhart controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kunhart misses with a head shot. Budzyn uses the momentum to regain guard. Kunhart thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Budzyn can't keep his opponent in guard - Kunhart advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kunhart is working for a submission of some sort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Budzyn is trying to maintain the position but Kunhart is very close to passing his half guard. Budzyn is trying to stand up here but Kunhart is controlling him well. Kunhart content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kunhart postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Budzyn to stand up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Budzyn with a lazy takedown attempt and Kunhart counters with a leg kick. Budzyn fails with the takedown and Kunhart counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kunhart. Kunhart passes easily into side control. Nice work. Kunhart taking a breather here. Kunhart wants to lay and pray for a moment but Budzyn keeps working. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kunhart has hold of Budzyn's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Budzyn seems comfortable defending it but Kunhart has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Budzyn is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Budzyn is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Kunhart couldn't care less - he's delighted!
