The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping body kick lands there for McGergor.
McGergor looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Bonham throws a right hand that McGergor ducks under and follows up with a left that McGergor also avoids with ease.
Bonham throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

McGergor looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Bonham!
McGergor wants to take Bonham's back here but Bonham is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Bonham is looking to improve his position but McGergor isn't that keen on the idea.

McGergor looking to break Bonham's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Bonham remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise McGergor will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

McGergor has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bonham has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
McGergor looks gassed!

McGergor is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bonham is defending well though. McGergor let's go of the attempt for now.
McGergor has the hooks in. Bonham is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

It looks like John Bonham has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGergor is looking for a kimura but Bonham is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McGergor to get the leverage.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McGergor passes the guard and advances to mount!

McGergor is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bonham is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McGergor sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bonham's guard.

McGergor had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bonham is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. McGergor Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bonham's back instead.

Bonham feints and as McGergor raises his hands in defense, Bonham changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

McGergor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bonham doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bonham manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
McGergor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bonham's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Bonham will probably get the nod.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Bonham.
