The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Volbeat shoots in for a takedown but Emelianenko shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Volbeat rushes Emelianenko and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Volbeat gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Emelianenko can do anything to dispel that myth. Volbeat thows a huge punch but Emelianenko dodges it nicely.

Emelianenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Emelianenko looks gassed! Volbeat postures up and lands a big shot to Emelianenko's brow. Volbeat stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emelianenko swivels though and keeps the full guard. Volbeat throws a strike but Emelianenko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Volbeat wants to sweep here but Emelianenko controlling him for the moment. Emelianenko is breathing heavily.

It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Volbeat, as he picks up the win!
