Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bas Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Sams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bas Rutten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Sams!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rutten lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Sams bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rutten's head.
It looks like Bas Rutten has been cut.
Sams uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rutten.
Rutten keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sams.
Rutten looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sams is fending him off so far but Rutten persists. Nope, Sams circles away and we're back to standing.
Rutten throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Rutten fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rutten avoids the body shot from Sams.
Rutten takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sams misses the jab.
Rutten takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Rutten blocks a jab.
Rutten tries to clinch there but Sams circles away.
Rutten shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sams defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bas Rutten. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sams misses with a double jab.
Rutten throws a right and a left that Sams avoids nicely.
Sams with a hook.
Sams throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Rutten counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rutten is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sams working a defensive guard here.
Sams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sams has his hands on Rutten's head, controlling the position.
Sams tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sams can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sams is looking to sweep but instead, Rutten has passed into half guard.
Sams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rutten. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rutten tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sams controls his leg.
Rutten not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Rutten will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Sams lands a right hook to the body.
Sams digs a good hook to Rutten's body.
Sams throws a quick inside leg kick.
Sams scores with a jab.
Sams lands a nice looking body shot.
Sams fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Sams moves into range and connects with a jab.
A lazy left from Sams finds it's target.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sams scores with a body shot.
Sams drops Rutten with a beautiful combination! Rutten stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Sams is looking for the KO!
Sams cracks Rutten with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Sams has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Rutten to stand back up!
Rutten is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sams connects with a body shot.
Sams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rutten moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sams jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Rutten loses concentration momentarily and Sams pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Rutten crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Sams finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Matt Sams!
