Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by Rocky Balboa. On his way into the cage it seems that John James has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily John James seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quinton Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
James keeps the fight on the outside.
James throws a right and a left that Johnson avoids nicely.
James misses with the combination.
Johnson tries to clinch but James moves out of range.
Quinton Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Johnson grinds an elbow into James's temple.
James is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Johnson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Johnson throws an elbow but James slips to the side and avoids it well.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there.
Johnson is trying to move to mount but James reverses beautifully and ends up in Johnson's guard.
James really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Johnson wants to stand but James is controlling the position.
Johnson wants to sweep but no luck.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Johnson rushes James and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Johnson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
James wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Johnson gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Johnson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Johnson looks gassed!
Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. James avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Johnson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
John James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quinton Johnson.

James is trying to break the clinch but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.

Johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. James is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

James changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Johnson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

James darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

James fails to land with a series of punches.
James moves in looking to clinch but Johnson pushes him off.

James shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. James gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

James decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Johnson, up you get!
James tries for a takedown but Johnson circles away easily

and Johnson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Johnson.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Johnson is looking to work some ground and pound but James has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Quinton Johnson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


James fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
James throws a good cross that connects.
James looks to land a combination. Johnson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
James fails with an attempt to clinch.
James swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson tries to clinch but James is having none of it.

Johnson moves out of range as James strikes.
Johnson digs a good body shot into James's ribs.

so James counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. James gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

James drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Johnson dives on top into guard.

James has his feet on Johnson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Johnson wants to clinch.
James scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
James fails with the takedown

and Johnson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James is looking to stand back up but Johnson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by James.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson passes the guard and advances to mount!
Johnson looking to control but James is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Johnson throws a sloppy strike and James uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and James has ended up in Johnson's guard.

James drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says James as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Johnson screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with James! Nice submission victory there!
