The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitaker tries to clinch but Carson is having none of it.

Shane Carson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whitaker shoots for a double leg takedown but Carson sprawls well. He's pushed Whitaker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Carson is sitting in close to Whitaker's body. Whitaker has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Carson is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Carson is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Whitaker.
