Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Taargus Paynuss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mehu Katti!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paynuss looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Katti shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Paynuss pinned against the cage. Paynuss gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Katti misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Paynuss throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Katti fails with the takedown.
Katti moves into range and clinches up with Paynuss.
Paynuss is pressed up against the cage. Katti has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Paynuss down to the mat. Paynuss avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Taargus Paynuss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mehu Katti.
Paynuss throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Katti stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Paynuss follows into mount!
Katti is rocked!
It looks like Mehu Katti has been cut.
Paynuss looking to control but Katti is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Katti is still in real trouble! Can Paynuss finish him?
Paynuss prevents Katti from getting the reversal.
Katti seems to have recovered his senses.
Katti manages to regain half guard. Good work.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Katti manages to get to full guard.
Paynuss wants to stand but Katti has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Katti thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Katti working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Paynuss doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Katti is tightening it up a little... Paynuss has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Paynuss reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Paynuss taps out! nice BJJ there by Katti!
