Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Perl! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Niko Babalu! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Babalu doesn't manage to clinch there - Perl circles away.
Perl gets a takedown into half guard. Perl is looking to pass Babalu's guard but actually Babalu recovers to full guard. Babalu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Perl gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Babalu looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Perl is pushing down on Babalu's leg trying to pass to half guard. Babalu is fighting to maintain full guard but Perl has managed to sneak the leg through. Babalu is trying to stand.
Babalu has hold of Perl's hands but Perl slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perl has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Babalu defend it? Perl steps over the head and cranks it - Babalu is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Perl!
