Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Handsome Blake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Boyer!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Boyer.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Blake.
Blake wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Boyer, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blake tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boyer can do anything to dispel that myth.
Blake tries for a kimura but Boyer is defending well.
Boyer is trying to get back to half guard.
Boyer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blake. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Blake tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Blake wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Boyer, who protects the arm well.
Blake is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Boyer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Boyer prevents Blake from moving into mount.
The ground and pound from Blake seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Boyer stops Blake from passing to mount.
Blake is trying to move to mount but Boyer reverses beautifully and ends up in Blake's guard.
Blake escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Boyer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boyer has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Blake to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Boyer is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Blake pulls down on the head and he's put Boyer to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Handsome Blake!
