Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Diego Albuquerque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giovanni Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Giovanni Emelianenko has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Diego Albuquerque's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Albuquerque! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Giovanni Emelianenko! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emelianenko leaves Albuquerque with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Emelianenko looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! The fight stays on the outside here - Albuquerque looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Albuquerque tries to score a power double leg takedown but Emelianenko sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Albuquerque somewhat. Emelianenko doesn't manage to clinch there - Albuquerque circles away.
Emelianenko shoots and misses and Albuquerque counters with a head kick. That will keep Emelianenko thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Albuquerque clinches but Emelianenko breaks the clinch and Emelianenko counters with a nice double leg into guard. Albuquerque controlling the position. Albuquerque wants to stand but Emelianenko is controlling the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Albuquerque is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Albuquerque. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Albuquerque stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emelianenko swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Emelianenko keeping moving, preventing Albuquerque from controlling successfully. Albuquerque loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Albuquerque trying to control the position from guard on top but Emelianenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Emelianenko is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Albuquerque defends well.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Albuquerque tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Emelianenko swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Albuquerque. That's going to take a lot out of him. Albuquerque closes the distance but Emelianenko moves to the side and Emelianenko counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Emelianenko postures up in Albuquerque's guard and throws a big left but Albuquerque blocks it. Albuquerque is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Emelianenko is trying to stand up here but Albuquerque is controlling him well. Albuquerque seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Emelianenko does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Albuquerque passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Emelianenko! Emelianenko is wriggling around trying to escape.

Albuquerque is trying hard to land a takedown here. Emelianenko sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Albuquerque bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Emelianenko eventually gives up the hold. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Albuquerque tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Emelianenko counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Albuquerque is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Albuquerque looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko scoring with punches to the head and body. Albuquerque is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Albuquerque wants to get back to his feet but Emelianenko is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Emelianenko trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Albuquerque had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Emelianenko is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Albuquerque Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Emelianenko's back instead. Emelianenko tries to break free.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Emelianenko prevents Albuquerque from getting a body triangle. Albuquerque controls the action. Albuquerque tries to get the hooks in deep but Emelianenko pushed the leg off. Emelianenko is trying to get back to his feet but Albuquerque has full control of the position and if anything, Emelianenko has just worked his way into a worse spot. Emelianenko is keeping busy.

Giovanni Emelianenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Albuquerque's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Emelianenko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Albuquerque is tightening it up a little... Emelianenko has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Emelianenko reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Emelianenko taps out! nice BJJ there by Albuquerque!
