Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Giggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, David West!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Colin Fotheringham and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
West fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Giggs manages to avoid it.
West misses with a few strikes there.
A punch combination from West misses.
Giggs misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
West fails to land with a series of punches.
Giggs keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Giggs.
Giggs shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Giggs goes for an armbar but West turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from West.
West controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Giggs working for a triangle but West defends it easily.
Giggs is looking to sweep but instead, West has passed into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
West tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
West decides to return to a standing position.
David West is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
West throws a right hand that Giggs ducks under and follows up with a left that Giggs also avoids with ease.
West scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Giggs fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Giggs. That's going to take a lot out of him.
West jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
A swing and a miss from West.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from West.
West misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
West stuffs the takedown attempt from Giggs. Giggs gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Giggs will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Giggs seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. West shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Giggs is backing up but West catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Giggs covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! West Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David West!
