Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, William Harrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Grant Warburton! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harrison tries to close the distance and clinch but Warburton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Harrison has a takedown stuffed. Warburton defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Harrison. Harrison shoots in but Warburton avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Harrison. That's going to take a lot out of him. Warburton misses with a kick to the body.
Harrison tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Warburton swivels and escapes. No luck for Harrison with that takedown attempt. Warburton moves into range and clinches up with Harrison. Warburton wants to get back to striking at distance but Harrison won't allow it.
Harrison working hard to break the clinch. Harrison tries to pull guard but Warburton won't allow it.
Warburton lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Harrison backwards. Warburton jumps into guard, dragging Harrison to the mat.
Harrison will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Harrison tries to free his leg and advance position but Warburton is retaining full guard. Harrison throws a big right hand that misses. Harrison won't allow Warburton to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Warburton looking for a sweep. Not yet Warburton, not yet. Warburton striking from the bottom here. Harrison thows a big elbow that misses. Harrison controls from within his opponent's guard. Harrison with a flurry of punches that miss.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Harrison shoots in looking for a takedown. Warburton tries to sprawl out of it but Harrison keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Warburton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Warburton moves into the clinch. Harrison is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Warburton is keeping busy. Warburton tries to break free but Harrison pushes him back against the cage. Warburton decides to pull guard. Harrison postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Harrison makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Warburton pulls Harrison in close to his closed guard and prevents Harrison from doing any damage or advancing position. Harrison wants to pass the guard but Warburton is keeping the position. Harrison pushing down on Warburton's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Warburton kicks Harrison off and gets back to his feet. Warburton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Warburton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Warburton scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Harrison?
Harrison wants to control but Warburton is having none of it. Warburton should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Warburton tries to control but Harrison wriggling away. Warburton looks gassed! Harrison manages to regain half guard. Good work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Warburton takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Warburton is figuring out what he wants to do next. Harrison trying to control from the bottom.
Warburton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harrison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. The fighters are battling for position here. Harrison manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Warburton thows a big elbow that misses. Harrison is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Harrison bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Warburton's guard. Warburton keeping moving, preventing Harrison from controlling successfully. Harrison sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Warburton's guard. Warburton is looking for a sweep. Harrison is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Harrison is controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Grant Warburton will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Warburton avoids a kick to the body.
Harrison has his takedown stuffed and Warburton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Harrison tries for a takedown but Warburton circles away easily and Warburton makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Harrison misses with a takedown and Harrison takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Harrison. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harrison with a lazy takedown attempt and Warburton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Harrison won't be happy with that. Harrison is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Warburton off and has taken his back! Harrison is working the ground and pound. Can Warburton escape? Warburton wants to escape the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Harrison lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harrison is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Warburton. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Harrison is hanging on to Warburton's back as he tries to escape.
Warburton trying to control the hands but Harrison breaks the grip. Warburton won't enjoy being in this position. Harrison looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Warburton is tapping - it's over boys! Harrison picks up the submission victory!
