Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Mendosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Silver!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendosa fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mendosa shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Silver sprawls well. Silver wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mendosa gets slowly back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mendosa.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Mendosa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silver misses with a jab, cross combination.
Silver fails to land with a series of punches.
Silver misses with a few strikes there.
Mendosa slips a jab and a cross from Silver.
Silver rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mendosa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Silver closes the distance and clinches.
Silver breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silver swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mendosa shoots in looking for a takedown. Silver tries to sprawl out of it but Mendosa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silver manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silver looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mendosa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silver's waist but Silver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mendosa off to one side.
Silver stuffs the takedown.
Silver misses with a series of wild punches.
Silver displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mendosa.
Silver lands a left and a right that send Mendosa crashing to the mat, dazed. Silver thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Mendosa is rocked!
It looks like Carlos Mendosa has been cut.
Mendosa is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silver misses with a double jab.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice takedown defense from Silver. No joy for Mendosa on that attempt.
Silver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Silver lands with a right and another and another! Mendosa is in big trouble! Silver lands again and this time it's lights out for Mendosa! A quality knockout there for Silver.
