Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carter Pewterschmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pewterschmidt comes to the ring accompanied by 7 Words. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carter Pewterschmidt! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gunnar Hansen! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hansen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hansen misses with a low kick. Pewterschmidt throws a right and a left that both miss. Pewterschmidt scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hansen in his tracks. Pewterschmidt bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hansen's head. Pewterschmidt shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pewterschmidt showed some decent athleticism there. Pewterschmidt working Hansen over with strikes. Pewterschmidt is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Pewterschmidt trying to control from half guard but Hansen is working away. Pewterschmidt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pewterschmidt seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Pewterschmidt is trying to work for a kimura but Hansen is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hansen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pewterschmidt is working away from the top position though. Hansen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pewterschmidt missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Pewterschmidt misses with an uppercut. Hansen throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pewterschmidt. Pewterschmidt fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Hansen defending well as Pewterschmidt loads up on a big left hand. Pewterschmidt pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hansen throws a leg kick which misses Pewterschmidt's front leg but catches the back leg as Pewterschmidt tries to avoid it. Pewterschmidt shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hansen defends it nicely. Hansen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Pewterschmidt on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Pewterschmidt throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Hansen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Pewterschmidt misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hansen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hansen wants to land a leg kick but Pewterschmidt is out of range. Pewterschmidt blocks a head kick by Hansen.
Hansen ducks under a wild hook from Pewterschmidt. Pewterschmidt tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hansen was well out of range. Poor timing from Pewterschmidt. Pewterschmidt swings away with a body shot that misses
and Hansen counters with a left and a right that stings Pewterschmidt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hansen takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Hansen moves out of range of the strikes. Pewterschmidt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hansen tries to land a sweep but no joy. Pewterschmidt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Pewterschmidt trying to control but Hansen is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gunnar Hansen dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Hansen with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pewterschmidt to score with a decent uppercut. Hansen throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Pewterschmidt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hansen. Hansen looks to land a combination but Pewterschmidt avoids it well. Pewterschmidt throws a predictable looking body shot
and Hansen counters with a body kick that stops Pewterschmidt in his tracks momentarily. Hansen throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pewterschmidt walks into a straight right hand from Hansen.
It looks like Carter Pewterschmidt has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Hansen looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hansen cracks a nice hook into Pewterschmidt's ribs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hansen clinches. Pewterschmidt blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hansen manages to break the clinch.

Pewterschmidt is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hansen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Nice uppercut lands for Hansen. That snapped Pewterschmidt's head back.
Hansen takes a swing at Pewterschmidt's ribcage but misses. Hansen thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Pewterschmidt if he has to take too many more of those.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hansen lands with a cross. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hansen throws a nice looking combination but Pewterschmidt bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Gunnar Hansen seems to be getting the better of the standup. Hansen cracks Pewterschmidt with a right hand to the side of the head. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hansen, right into the meat.
Pewterschmidt checks a leg kick. Hansen is looking to slow Pewterschmidt down with leg kicks. Hansen lands a big head kick that sends Pewterschmidt tumbling to the mat! Hansen takes a step backwards and waves Pewterschmidt back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Pewterschmidt is rocked! Hansen scores with a body shot.
Oh Pewterschmidt is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hansen lands with a big right hook that stumbles Pewterschmidt - he's out on his feet here! Hansen follows up with another monster hook that separates Pewterschmidt from consciousness! Pewterschmidt falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Hansen stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:07 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Gunnar Hansen! Gunnar Hansen is the new middleweight champion!
