Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steven Saint Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steven Saint Pierre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeff Barton! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Saint Pierre tries to avoid it but Barton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Saint Pierre to the ground. Saint Pierre escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jeff Barton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Saint Pierre stuffs the takedown attempt from Barton. Barton gets slowly back to his feet. Saint Pierre leaves Barton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Steven Saint Pierre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Barton. Barton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Saint Pierre circles away. Barton tries to clinch there but Saint Pierre circles away.
A big left from Barton misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Saint Pierre but Saint Pierre pushes him off and we're back to square one. Barton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Saint Pierre swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's one minute gone in the round. Saint Pierre stuffs the takedown. Barton fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Saint Pierre shoots in and bounces Barton off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Saint Pierre landing some decent shots from guard. Saint Pierre in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Saint Pierre tries to free his leg and advance position but Barton is retaining full guard. Saint Pierre throws a big right hand that misses. Saint Pierre in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Barton wants to get back to his feet but Saint Pierre is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Saint Pierre throwing strikes but missing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Saint Pierre cracks Barton with a solid left hand. Saint Pierre drops back looking for a leg! Barton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Barton manages to kick Saint Pierre off! Saint Pierre jumps back into Barton's guard. Saint Pierre has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Barton has his takedown stuffed and Saint Pierre counters with a takedown into side control. Saint Pierre will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Barton looks gassed! Saint Pierre is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Barton is trying to escape and Saint Pierre transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Barton is forced to tap! Nice work there by Saint Pierre! Very nice indeed!
