7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Shamrock! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlson Jr misses with a double jab.
Carlson Jr displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shamrock. Shamrock fails with a takedown attempt. Carlson Jr misses with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shamrock slips a straight right by Carlson Jr. Shamrock tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carlson Jr swivels and escapes. Chad Carlson Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Shamrock. Carlson Jr misses with a hook. Carlson Jr cracks Shamrock with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes. Carlson Jr tries to bum rush Shamrock with a series of wild strikes but Shamrock uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Carlson Jr looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Carlson Jr throws a right and a left that both miss. Carlson Jr throws a series of punches but Shamrock avoids them all with ease. Chad Carlson Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carlson Jr swings for the body but Shamrock moves out of range.
Shamrock takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Carlson Jr defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shamrock. Carlson Jr misses with a double jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Shamrock fails with the takedown. A right-left combo lands from Carlson Jr. Shamrock slips a jab and a cross from Carlson Jr.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Shamrock moves out of range of the strikes. And thats the end of the round the fighters go back to their corners.
Chad Carlson Jr dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Shamrock lands a knee to the body.

Shamrock lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Carlson Jr! Carlson Jr stops Shamrock from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Shamrock fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Shamrock has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Shamrock has control of Carlson Jr's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Carlson Jr regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Carlson Jr is controlling an arm, preventing Shamrock from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Carlson Jr really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Carlson Jr squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Shamrock punishing his opponent with strikes. You get the feeling that Carlson Jr really doesn't like being in this position too much.
