PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pink Mink (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Narita. Mink has chosen Pop the Glock as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pink Mink!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mink decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mink perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mink has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mink fails to move to back control.

Mink has hold of Brooks's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Brooks manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Mink working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Mink seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Brooks is holding on tight.

Mink looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Brooks is controlling Mink 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mink is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brooks is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mink moves in looking to clinch but Brooks pushes him off.

Mink has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Brooks is trying to keep an underhook but Mink manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Mink wants to work for an arm triangle but Brooks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mink is trying to control the action in half guard but Brooks is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Mink counters with a single leg into guard. Brooks didn't expect that.

Brooks lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Mink shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Mink is working for a submission of some sort.
Mink tries to pass the half guard into mount. Brooks knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Pink Mink showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Mink is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mink in particular looking to stall.
Mink moves nicely into side control.

The fight stays on the outside here - Mink looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Brooks shoots and misses

and Mink counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mink.
Mink is working for takedown but Brooks is calmly controlling the position for now.

Mink wants a takedown but no success here.

Mink's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Brooks throws a right and a left that Mink avoids nicely.

Pink Mink comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mink has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
