PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Sheen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sheen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mighty Ducks. Kennedy is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Domination by Jim Johnson. Evan Kennedy has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Sheen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan Kennedy!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sheen waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kennedy.
Kennedy shoots in for a double leg but Sheen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sheen misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kennedy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sheen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Sheen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kennedy ducks under a wild hook from Sheen.
Evan Kennedy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sheen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Kennedy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kennedy wants to control but Sheen is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Sheen is keen to just control but Kennedy is a slippery customer.

Sheen is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kennedy is defending well though. Sheen let's go of the attempt for now.

Kennedy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

and Sheen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Kennedy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sheen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sheen has his feet on Kennedy's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

and Sheen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kennedy's guard.
Kennedy is breathing heavily.
Kennedy keeping moving, preventing Sheen from controlling successfully.

Sheen wants to work for an arm triangle but Kennedy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sheen connects with a nice short shot to Kennedy's temple.

Kennedy throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sheen escapes and throws Kennedy's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Kennedy tries to buck Sheen off but Sheen is having none of it.

Sheen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sheen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sheen trying to control the action but Kennedy is working from the bottom.
Sheen cracks Kennedy with a big right hand but Kennedy just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Sheen looks up at the clock and then as Kennedy takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sheen smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Kennedy is looking for a sweep.

Sheen working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Sheen is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kennedy has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kennedy!

The crowd cheers as Sheen lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kennedy doesn't seem phased though.

Kennedy shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sheen is trying to defend but Kennedy finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Evan Kennedy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
