With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lester Pearson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Slade Wilson has been cut.
Pearson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Pearson lands a nice hook to Wilson's body. Wilson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Pearson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Pearson tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilson is retaining full guard.
Wilson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pearson!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pearson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wilson wants to control the pace but Pearson is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Wilson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lester Pearson dominated that round.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Pearson throws a lazy right hand but Wilson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pearson jabs at Wilson's body.
Wilson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pearson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pearson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wilson throws a predictable looking body shot
and Pearson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Pearson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Pearson and Wilson goes tumbling to the canvas! Pearson follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.


Wilson is rocked!
Wilson is staying active underneath Pearson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Oh Wilson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wilson seems to have got his legs back now.
Wilson is in trouble now - Pearson has advanced to mount!

Slade Wilson's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Pearson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wilson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Pearson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wilson is looking to escape.
Pearson breaks from Wilson's wrist control and lands an elbow.


Jeez, Slade Wilson's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Slade Wilson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
