PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bill Crack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cocky Balboner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Balboner's choice of entrance music: You're The Best Around. Cocky Balboner will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cocky Balboner!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crack uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Balboner.
Crack shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Balboner sprawls well. Balboner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Crack gets slowly back to his feet.
Crack shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Balboner throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Crack tries for a takedown but Balboner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Balboner tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Crack was well out of range. Poor timing from Balboner.

Balboner leaves Crack with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Balboner takes a swing at Crack's ribcage but misses.
Crack tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Balboner swivels and escapes.

Crack changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Balboner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Balboner tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Crack presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Crack can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Balboner is looking to escape.
Crack is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Balboner is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Crack can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Balboner is looking to escape.
Balboner wants to hold on but Crack pushes him away.

Crack throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Balboner is squirming around, avoiding Crack's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Balboner can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Crack changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Balboner tries to avoid it but Crack manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Balboner to the ground. Balboner escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bill Crack.
