PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tiko Gardeau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Alb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Alb's choice of entrance music: Sandstorm. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alb tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gardeau was well out of range. Poor timing from Alb.
Alb defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gardeau.
Gardeau takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Gardeau throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alb's waist but Alb gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gardeau off to one side.

Gardeau gets the takedown into side control.
Alb is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
You can see the frustration on Alb's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Gardeau is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Alb knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gardeau is working for a kimura but Alb is defending it quite comfortably.

Gardeau drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alb looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alb looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Alb!
Alb is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Gardeau will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Gardeau shoots for a double leg takedown but Alb sprawls well. He's pushed Gardeau's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Alb jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gardeau manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Alb wants to control for a moment but Gardeau uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gardeau lands a nice short elbow.

Gardeau is working for a submission of some sort.
Gardeau is keen to just control but Alb is a slippery customer.

Gardeau looks to land a strike but Alb avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Gardeau is looking to stand up but Alb won't let him.

Alb has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gardeau can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Alb manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Alb is looking to work his way around to Gardeau's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Ryan Alb showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Gardeau fails with an attempt to clinch.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A punch combination from Gardeau misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alb takes a swing at Gardeau's ribcage but misses.
Gardeau uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Alb.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alb is looking to pass Gardeau's guard but actually Gardeau recovers to full guard.
Gardeau controls Alb momentarily but Alb frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gardeau regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Alb.

Alb is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Alb is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Well, if Alb is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well Alb has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
