Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fred Benson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Liner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liner is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by You're the Best-Joe Esposito. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Benson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Liner! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Benson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Liner is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Benson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Liner keeps working. Liner is looking for a sweep. Benson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Liner punching from the bottom.
Benson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Liner preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Liner looks gassed! Benson is thwarting Liner's attempts to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Liner is not content to let Benson control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Benson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Liner sneaks back into half guard. Benson wants to pass the guard but Liner is defending well. Benson moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Liner. Liner is not content to let Benson control the position. Liner is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Benson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Liner is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Benson is looking to take a break and control but Liner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Liner is pushing Benson's head away, looking to escape. Benson manages to hold on to the position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Benson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Liner can do anything to dispel that myth. Benson postures up.
Liner is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Benson wants to control from the top but Liner keeps moving. Benson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Liner tries to land a sweep but no joy. Benson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Benson tries to free his leg and advance position but Liner is retaining full guard. Benson slips nicely into half guard. Liner tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Benson drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Benson wants to pass the guard but Liner is keeping the position. Liner tries to strike from the bottom.
Liner throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Liner keeping full guard, as Benson tries to pass. Benson trying to control but Liner is working from the bottom. Liner is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Benson defends well. Benson stands up out of Liner's guard for a moment - Liner manages to land a nice upkick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fred Benson dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Good shot there by Benson. Benson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Liner sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Benson trying to control from half guard but Liner is working away. Benson lands with a punch from half guard. Liner is looking to escape. Liner tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Benson has advanced to mount. Uh oh. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Liner tries to reverse the position but Benson maintains control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Benson avoids the attempt from Liner to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benson unloading with bombs! Benson breaks from Liner's wrist control and lands an elbow. Benson with the ground and pound from mount. Benson content just to control the position here. Benson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Liner hang on? Benson tries to control but Liner wriggling away. Liner gets back to half guard. Liner is not content to let Benson control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Benson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Liner trying to control but Benson postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Benson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Liner fails with the takedown and Benson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Liner won't be happy with that. Benson working away. Benson trying to control the position but Liner is working away. Benson lands some shots froms side control. Benson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Liner's legs. Benson trying to control the position but Liner is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Benson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Liner down.
Liner wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Benson tries for a takedown but Liner circles away easily and Liner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Benson wants to sweep but no luck. Liner working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Benson managing to control the position. Liner makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fred Benson dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Benson has a takedown stuffed. Liner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Benson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Liner throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Liner tries to clinch up but Benson circles away and keeps his distance. Benson moves in looking to clinch but Liner pushes him off. Liner misses with a body kick. Benson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Liner did well to prevent Benson getting side control. Benson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Liner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Liner is looking for a sweep. Benson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Benson wants to control but Liner is keeping him busy. Both fighters are breathing heavily. The fighters are battling for position here. Liner manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Benson looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Liner is on top in guard.
Liner loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Benson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Benson is working hard here to advance position. Benson keeping moving, preventing Liner from controlling successfully. Benson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Benson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Benson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Liner is now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Liner is nestled in close to Benson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Liner working Benson over with strikes.

Liner misses with a takedown attempt and Benson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Liner is not content to let Benson control the position. Liner landing strikes from the bottom. Benson lands with a punch from half guard. Liner is looking for a sweep. Benson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Benson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Liner's half guard. Benson uses his free foot to push down on Liner's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Liner. Benson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Liner is desperately trying to improve his position but Benson has a good base and remains in mount. Liner flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Liner really wants to buck Benson off and get back to his feet. Benson content just to control the position here. Steven Liner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Fred Benson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Benson trying to control but Liner is having none of it.
And that's the end of the fight! Fred Benson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Benson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
