Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, tyler troop! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Midge Watkins! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! troop gets a takedown into half guard. troop wants to pass the guard but Watkins is defending well. troop sitting and controlling from the half guard. Watkins is refusing to be controlled, as troop sits in half guard. Watkins gets full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. troop being controlled here momentarily. troop tries to free his leg and advance position but Watkins is retaining full guard. Watkins keeping moving, preventing troop from controlling successfully.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. troop wants to get up but he can't break Watkins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Watkins seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. troop wants to stand and escape but instead Watkins has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Watkins is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. troop tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Watkins swivels and escapes. troop pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Watkins takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Watkins shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. troop tries to kick Watkins off but Watkins keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Watkins is working for a submission of some sort.
Watkins looks gassed! troop tries to roll over but Watkins keeps him under control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Watkins throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Watkins is thwarting troop's attempts to control the position. troop is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Watkins is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. troop moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Watkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. troop swivels though and keeps the full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Watkins is looking to clinch but troop is avoiding it.

A close round but Midge Watkins will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. No joy there for Watkins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Watkins wants to clinch up but troop keeps it at a distance. troop with a lazy takedown attempt and Watkins counters by clinching up. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. troop has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Watkins regains guard immediately. Watkins manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. troop manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. troop is trying to control the position but Watkins postures up. troop looking to hit a scissor sweep but Watkins is one step ahead there. Watkins wants to control from the top but troop keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as troop holds on and takes a little breather. Watkins looking to pass the guard. Watkins is looking to advance position but troop has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! troop is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Watkins has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Watkins! That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Watkins is desperately trying to improve his position but troop has a good base and remains in mount. troop manages to capitalize on a mistake by Watkins to take his back! troop controls the action. troop has the hooks in. Watkins is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Watkins is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Midge Watkins dominated that fourth round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Watkins tries to clinch but fails miserably and troop counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. troop trying to control but Watkins is working from the bottom. Watkins working a defensive guard here.

Watkins manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! troop is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Watkins scores with a couple of nice shots. Watkins is just content to waste time from the top position. troop takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. troop looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Watkins puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. troop is looking to improve his position.

Watkins prevents troop from getting the reversal. troop tries to hold on but Watkins postures up. The referee warns troop that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Watkins with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Watkins moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, troop has worked his arm free - good work by troop!
Watkins working the ground and pound from side control. Watkins wants to lay and pray for a moment but troop keeps working. troop is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Watkins off and has taken his back! Watkins looking very determined here, making life difficult for troop.
