Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave M (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimbo Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kimbo Rice looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kimbo Rice!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
M lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Kimbo Rice has been cut.
Rice looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
M stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and M wants it to stay on the feet.
M throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Rice's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

M closes the distance and clinches.
M effectively controlling the action here.

M manages to break the clinch.

M moves into the clinch successfully.

M breaks from the clinch.
M fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

M gets in close and instigates a clinch.

M escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
M gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rice counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
M displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


That has opened up Kimbo Rice's cut even more.
M shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rice pinned against the cage. Rice gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave M. That's going to take a lot out of him.

M darts in and clinches Rice up against the cage.

M's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
M fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

M gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rice prevents a takedown attempt there.

M pulls guard successfully.
M looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Rice won't allow M to get back to his feet.
Rice in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
M controls Rice momentarily but Rice frees himself.
M tries to land a sweep but no joy.

M has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rice off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
M shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

M fails in his attempt to clinch.

M clinches up against the cage.

M manages to pull guard.
M is looking to stand up but Rice isn't so interested in that idea.
M is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rice in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
M is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rice throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
M bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rice's guard.

M wants to control from the top but Rice keeps moving.
Rice wants to sweep here but M controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
M sitting in guard here, content to control.
M postures up.

M got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rice has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, M has managed to get both his arms back between Rice's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rice throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
M slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Rice lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for M!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
M tries to hold on but Rice postures up.
M is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Dave M just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

M moves into range and clinches up with Rice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave M dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kimbo Rice's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from M.
M fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A right-left combo lands from M.

M closes the distance and pushes Rice back into the cage.
M wants a takedown but no success here.
A short uppercut from Rice.
M avoids a wild elbow strike from Rice.

M breaks from the clinch.
M is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rice sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and M holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rice gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from M.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rice misses with an elbow over the top.
M blocks a punch to the side of the head.

M can't get the takedown.

M pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rice stuffs the takedown.
Rice connects with a jab.
M plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
M lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rice backs up against the cage.

M gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
M tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rice smiles and moves away.
Rice takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Dave M is winning the standup battle so far.
M tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Rice counters with a single leg into guard. M didn't expect that.
M trying to control the position here.

Rice postures up in M's guard and throws a big left but M blocks it.
M trying to control the position.
M manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rice manages to regain half guard. Good work.
M is looking to advance position but Rice won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
M is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Rice tries to roll over but M keeps him under control.
Rice is trying to escape back to his feet but M uses the scramble to pass into side control.
M gets to mount! Rice was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Rice tries to get back to half guard but can't.

M is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Rice has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
M fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Rice tries to get back to half guard but can't.
M can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rice is looking to escape.
Rice tries to hold on but M pushes him away.
M lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
M landing punches.
M scores with a couple of good head shots there.
M landing strikes from the mount and Rice is in trouble!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Kimbo Rice will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


M lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rice circles away quickly and effectively.
M misses with a two punch combination.

M looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
M tries to free his leg and advance position but Rice is retaining full guard.

M stands up and waves to Rice to follow him.

M clinches.

M jumps into guard, dragging Rice to the mat.
M is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
M is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rice avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rice passes M's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Rice trying to advance position but M counters by regaining guard.

M manages to escape and get back to his feet.
M throws a one two combo.
Rice has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by M.
M moves out of range as Rice strikes.
Rice tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and M counters with a big head kick but Rice shrugs it off.

Rice scores a takedown into full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
M tries to get back to half guard but can't.
A nice elbow there by Rice.
M manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Rice is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for M!

M is looking to get to half guard.

M tries to lock up and control but Rice gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
M could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
M is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
A nice elbow there by Rice.
M tries to get back to half guard but can't.
M is working hard here to advance position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
M wants to control but Rice is having none of it.
Rice raining down shots from the mount!
M is in a horrible position here. Rice smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
M wants to hold on but Rice pushes him away.
M can't escape the position.
Rice won't let M get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dave M.
I think M has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
