PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Mushinenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Klityschko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mushinenko kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Russian National Anthem. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joseph Mushinenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Klityschko!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klityschko moves in looking to clinch but Mushinenko pushes him off.
Nice sprawl there from Klityschko as Mushinenko shoots in.
Mushinenko fails with the takedown.

Klityschko rushes Mushinenko and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Klityschko is working for takedown but Mushinenko is calmly controlling the position for now.
The referee is keeping an eye on Klityschko - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Klityschko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mushinenko closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mushinenko in particular looking to stall.

Mushinenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Klityschko swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Klityschko scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mushinenko doesn't seem bothered though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mushinenko is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Klityschko wants to control but Mushinenko is keeping him busy.
Mushinenko parries the strikes from Klityschko easily there. Klityschko is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mushinenko to escape.
