Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pearl Whites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whites comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman. Smith has chosen In The Morning as his entrance music. Mike Smith struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 207.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith connects with a body shot. Mike Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Whites shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Whites was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Whites working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Smith. Smith prevents Whites from getting back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Whites keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Smith with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Whites working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Smith postures up in Whites's guard and throws a big left but Whites blocks it. Whites is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smith is aware though and is defending well. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Whites is pulling down on Smith's head. It's preventing any offense from Smith, at least for the moment. Smith drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Whites manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Smith has Whites in his guard. Whites postures up and lands a big shot to Smith's brow. Whites trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Whites working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Whites wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position. Smith is looking to stand up but Whites isn't so interested in that idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith looks gassed! Whites works over Smith with some ground and pound from guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whites postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Whites stands up over Smith, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Whites slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Smith pushes Whites away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Whites gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Whites has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Smith is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Whites yanks on the arm and Smith is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Whites.
