Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Janawat Narropol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Preston Schmidli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schmidli is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Piano Man from Billy Joel. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Janawat Narropol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Preston Schmidli!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schmidli closes the distance and clinches.
Schmidli is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Schmidli has Narropol pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Narropol manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Schmidli blocks an elbow strike from Narropol.
Narropol comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Preston Schmidli has been cut.
Schmidli wants to break free but Narropol has control.
Narropol lands an elbow inside.

Schmidli breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Schmidli closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Schmidli has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Schmidli decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Narropol, up you get!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schmidli wants to stand but Narropol has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Schmidli is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Schmidli wants to control from the top but Narropol keeps moving.
Narropol is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Schmidli really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Narropol. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Narropol had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Schmidli defends it easily.

Schmidli stands and steps away. Narropol gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Schmidli closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Schmidli throws a right hand that Narropol ducks under and follows up with a left that Narropol also avoids with ease.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schmidli can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Schmidli swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Schmidli cracks Narropol with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Narropol shoots in looking for a takedown. Schmidli tries to sprawl out of it but Narropol keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Schmidli manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Narropol shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Schmidli sprawls well. Schmidli wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Narropol gets slowly back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Schmidli is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Narropol can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Well Schmidli has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
