Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Julio Cesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Irwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Julio Cesar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steven Irwin! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Cesar. Cesar tries to close the distance and clinch but Irwin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Irwin fails in his attempt to clinch. Cesar has managed to clinch.

Irwin prevents the takedown attempt.
With the fighters up against the cage, Irwin throws an elbow but misses. Cesar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Irwin walks away with a smile on his face. Cesar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Cesar throws a right and a left that Irwin avoids nicely. Cesar tries to close the distance and clinch but Irwin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cesar wants to clinch but Irwin slips to the side and Irwin counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Irwin closes the distance and pushes Cesar back into the cage. Irwin utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Irwin creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Cesar's defenses. Irwin working hard to break the clinch. Cesar taking a breather. Irwin unloads a knee to the mid-section. Irwin unloads a knee to the mid-section. Cesar scores a nice knee to the body.
Irwin lands a hook to the side of the head. Cesar stops a takedown attempt from Irwin.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cesar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Irwin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Irwin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Cesar is breathing heavily. Irwin wants to stand but Cesar has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Irwin throws a big right hand that misses. Irwin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Irwin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Irwin tries to stand but Cesar is controlling from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Irwin wants to control from the top but Cesar keeps moving. Irwin thows a big elbow that misses. Irwin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cesar is on top in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Irwin can do anything to dispel that myth. Cesar trying to control but Irwin is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cesar advances to half guard. Cesar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Irwin is just riding it out for now. Cesar eventually gives up the hold. Irwin tries to kick Cesar off but Cesar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Cesar is trying to work for a kimura but Irwin is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Irwin looks like he's trying to stand up.
Irwin is staying active underneath Cesar, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Irwin manages to escape and get back to his feet! Cesar has his takedown stuffed so Irwin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julio Cesar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cesar controls Irwin momentarily but Irwin frees himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Irwin looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Irwin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cesar, up you get! Irwin throws a head kick that misses. Cesar throws a head kick that misses. Irwin closes the distance and pushes Cesar back into the cage. Irwin comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Irwin is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Cesar is keeping busy. Cesar works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Cesar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Irwin works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cesar has gone for a leg lock! Irwin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cesar's guard. Irwin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steven Irwin dominated that round. That's time! Cesar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Cesar forces Irwin back against the cage and clinches. Irwin works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Irwin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Cesar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Irwin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cesar is proving hard to escape from. Cesar is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Irwin has his hands clasped together but Cesar extends an breaks Irwin's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Cesar.
