The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hope shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hope was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hope with a couple of short strikes.
Hope has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Putney is looking to get to half guard.
Hope postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Putney looks a forlorn figure.
Hope looking to control but Putney is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Hope controlling the pace for now.
Hope looking to finish Putney with some ground and pound. This is bad for Putney!

Hope working for a guillotine from mount but Putney is in no mood to give up.
Hope avoids the attempt from Putney to control.

Hope looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Hope trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Putney wants to hold on but Hope pushes him away.

Hope goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Putney turns into him and now he's in Hope's guard.
Putney throwing strikes from guard but Hope blocks nicely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hope working for a triangle but Putney defends it easily.

Putney got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hope has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Putney has managed to get both his arms back between Hope's legs - danger averted.
Hope looks gassed!
Hope keeping moving, preventing Putney from controlling successfully.

Putney trying to control the position from guard on top but Hope is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hope throws a series of punches but Putney avoids them all with ease.
Putney shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hope is looking to clinch but Putney is avoiding it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hope tries to close the distance and clinch up but Putney swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Putney throws a series of punches but Hope moves out of range.
Putney dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hope. That did some damage!
Hope lands an overhand right.
Hope scores with a nice right hand.
Hope moves in looking to clinch but Putney pushes him off.
Putney misses with a takedown

and Hope counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Putney's guard now.
Hope advances position into side control!

Hope has an Americana. Putney didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Hope is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Hope hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
