And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Satriani!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Cruz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Cruz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cruz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Cruz trying to control but Satriani is having none of it.
Satriani is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Cruz looking to finish with strikes here!
Satriani is looking to get to half guard.
Satriani manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Satriani actively working from the bottom here.

Cruz is thwarting Satriani's attempts to control the position.

Cruz seems to be working for a kimura but Satriani defends the submission attempt.
Cruz tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Satriani.

Satriani looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Cruz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Satriani did well to prevent Cruz getting side control.

Satriani is defending against the submission attempts here by Cruz.
Satriani is trying to get back to full guard.
Satriani moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Satriani manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cruz manages to get himself to full guard.

Cruz has his foot on Satriani's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Satriani works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Satriani has gone for a leg lock! Cruz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Satriani's guard.
Satriani wants to sweep but no luck.
Satriani keeping moving, preventing Cruz from controlling successfully.
Satriani is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Satriani has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cruz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Satriani looks gassed!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Satriani controls Cruz momentarily but Cruz frees himself.

Satriani is looking for a triangle but Cruz pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Satriani keeping moving, preventing Cruz from controlling successfully.
Cruz working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Cruz wants to stand but Satriani is controlling his posture from full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cruz with a flurry of punches that miss.
Cruz is looking to stand up but Satriani won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Cruz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Satriani looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cruz is one step ahead there.

Satriani utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Satriani is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Cruz rolls with it to try and escape but Satriani cranks on the arm and Cruz is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
