Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Polo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryu Hyabusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ralph Polo could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ryu Hyabusa's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ralph Polo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryu Hyabusa!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyabusa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hyabusa connects with a good right hand that stumbles Polo. Polo circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Polo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hyabusa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Polo can't keep his opponent in guard - Hyabusa advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hyabusa slows the pace down in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Let's hope that Hyabusa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Polo tries to kick Hyabusa off but Hyabusa keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Well, if Hyabusa is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hyabusa works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hyabusa stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryu Hyabusa dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Some wild striking there from Hyabusa.
Hyabusa moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Polo fails with the takedown
and Hyabusa counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Polo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hyabusa counters with a series of strikes. Polo will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hyabusa scores with a jab. Polo acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Hyabusa shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hyabusa seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hyabusa passes to full mount!
Hyabusa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Polo is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Hyabusa has taken his back!
Hyabusa has good solid back control here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryu Hyabusa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Polo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Hyabusa lands a jab-cross combination.
Polo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Polo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hyabusa decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Polo's guard.
Hyabusa passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hyabusa is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Polo will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Hyabusa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ryu Hyabusa just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hyabusa connects with a jab.
Hyabusa tries a head kick but it misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Polo avoids the head kick by Hyabusa.
Ryu Hyabusa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hyabusa shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hyabusa showed some decent athleticism there.
Hyabusa not doing much here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Polo wants to get back to his feet.
Hyabusa sitting and controlling from the half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hyabusa works his way into full mount!
Ralph Polo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ryu Hyabusa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ryu Hyabusa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hyabusa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
