Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Burton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Quinell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burton kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Warning - Footprints. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Fred Burton! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Craig Quinell! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burton tries to clinch but Quinell moves out of range. Quinell looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Burton forces Quinell back against the cage and clinches. Quinell has had enough of the clinch but Burton keeps him there for the moment. Quinell prevents a takedown attempt there.

Quinell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Burton.

Quinell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Burton moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Burton takes the fight into the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Quinell's face as he tries to break the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quinell tries to circle away but Burton has him pinned against the cage. Burton keeps control of Quinell as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Burton has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Quinell regains guard immediately. Quinell working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Burton. Burton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Burton wants to pass the guard but Quinell is keeping the position. Burton trying to control the position from guard on top but Quinell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burton in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Burton postures up in Quinell's guard and throws a big left but Quinell blocks it. Burton in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Burton keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Quinell's head. Burton gets to his feet. Quinell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Burton fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fred Burton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Burton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Quinell as he avoids it easily. Quinell takes a swing at Burton's ribcage but misses. Burton doesn't manage to clinch there - Quinell circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Burton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Quinell taking some punishment here, with Burton in his half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Quinell can do anything to dispel that myth. Burton takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Burton not landing any meaningful shots this time. Quinell is not content to let Burton control the position. Burton not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Quinell tries to kick Burton off but Burton keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Burton is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Quinell's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Quinell is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Burton. Quinell taking shots to the head. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Burton cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Burton lands a heavy elbow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Burton with shots to the head and body - Quinell looks very uncomfortable down there. Quinell is bucking up trying to escape but Burton cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Quinell is rocked! Burton is going olschool here, as he tries to force Quinell to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Quinell shrugs it off. Burton won't let Quinell get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Quinell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Burton with the ground and pound from mount. Burton lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Quinell hang on? Burton postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Quinell looks a forlorn figure.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Burton with a couple of short strikes. Burton looking to finish Quinell with some ground and pound. This is bad for Quinell! Quinell takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Quinell is still in real trouble! Can Burton finish him? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Burton is landing with some decent strikes but Quinell is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Burton postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Quinell bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Burton and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fred Burton! Fred Burton retains his super heavyweight title!
