Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sir Drax! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eddie Valasquez! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drax tries to bum rush Valasquez with a series of wild strikes but Valasquez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Horrible takedown by Drax or perhaps it was just good defense by Valasquez which made him look bad. Drax uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Valasquez. Valasquez takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Valasquez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Drax. Drax tries a head kick but it misses.
Drax throws a hook but Valasquez avoids it easily. Valasquez moves out of range as Drax strikes. Drax thows a left - swing and a miss! Valasquez throws a series of punches but Drax moves out of range. Valasquez fails to land with a series of punches.
Drax wants to clinch. Drax throws out a leg kick but Valasquez moves out of range and Drax only half commits.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drax has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Sir Drax has been cut. Drax swings for the body but Valasquez moves out of range.
Drax thows a left - swing and a miss! Drax swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Valasquez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Valasquez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Drax fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Drax throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Valasquez stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sir Drax. That's going to take a lot out of him. Valasquez swinging wilding here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drax avoids a punch combination nicely.
Drax looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Drax tries to pass to full mount but Valasquez defends it. Drax postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Valasquez to stand up. Drax is breathing heavily. Drax explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Valasquez takes one to the chin there. Drax tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Valasquez counters with a straight right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drax fails with a takedown attempt. Valasquez slaps away a takedown attempt from Drax, before circling back to the center of the mat. Drax catches Valasquez with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Nice uppercut there from Drax. Eddie Valasquez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Drax will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Valasquez stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Drax.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Drax throws a sloppy head kick and Valasquez moves out of range easily. Valasquez takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Nice sprawl there from Valasquez as Drax shoots in. Drax walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Valasquez checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Drax waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Valasquez. Drax shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Valasquez as he avoids it easily. Drax works over Valasquez's head and body with a nice combination. Drax needs to keep his hands up - Valasquez had a free shot at his head there. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A punch lands to the side of Valasquez 's head but he takes it in his stride. Valasquez takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Drax lands a lovely overhand right. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sir Drax dominated that round. The cut man is working on Sir Drax's cut. That's time! Drax's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Drax shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Valasquez as he jumps to the side. Valasquez lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Valasquez. A head kick misses from Drax. Drax misses with an uppercut. Valasquez saw that one coming. Drax shoots in for a takedown but Valasquez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Drax shoots for a double leg takedown but Valasquez sprawls well. He's pushed Drax's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sir Drax. That's going to take a lot out of him. Valasquez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Drax. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Drax shoots in but Valasquez avoids the takedown attempt easily. Eddie Valasquez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Drax misses the jab. Valasquez works over Drax's head and body with a nice combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drax throws a hook but Valasquez avoids it easily. Drax throws a looping overhand right but Valasquez ducks down to avoid it. Valasquez connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Drax's hands. Drax falls off balance throwing a combination
and Valasquez counters with a one-two to the body. Valasquez fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Drax on the side of the head. Valasquez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Drax takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Drax shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Valasquez but Valasquez pushes him off and we're back to square one. Valasquez avoids the head kick by Drax.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Valasquez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Drax. Sir Drax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Valasquez is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Drax. Drax jabbing away but nothing is landing. Valasquez staying out of range there. Valasquez circles away from the clinch attempt enabling Valasquez to counter with a crisp jab. Drax drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Drax is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Drax trying to control but Valasquez is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drax decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Valasquez, up you get! A shot to the body from Drax misses and Valasquez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Drax throws a jab when Valasquez was well out of range. Sir Drax is winning the standup battle so far. Valasquez walks forward, straight into a front kick from Drax. Drax is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Valasquez. Drax throws a jab but it's blocked by Valasquez.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Drax shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Valasquez sprawls well. Valasquez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Drax gets slowly back to his feet. Drax looks for a takedown but Valasquez sprawls well. Valasquez throws a nice looking combination but Drax bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Drax - that will leave a mark!

enabling Valasquez to counter with a crisp jab. Drax tries to close the distance and clinch up but Valasquez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Drax throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
A slapping leg kick lands for Drax.

Sir Drax dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Sir Drax's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Drax. Drax fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sir Drax. That's going to take a lot out of him. Drax throws a hook to the side of Valasquez's head but Valasquez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Drax lands a slapping body shot.
Drax has a takedown stuffed. Drax wants to slow Valasquez down by chopping away at his legs. Valasquez might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Drax works the jab nicely. Drax looks to land a right hand but Valasquez moved out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Drax wants to clinch but Valasquez slips to the side and Valasquez counters with a three punch combo that has Drax backing up. Drax nods at Valasquez to acknowledge the strikes. Drax works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Drax throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Valasquez. Valasquez takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Drax throws a leg kick but Valasquez moved away. Valasquez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Drax. Drax tries to clinch up but Valasquez circles away and keeps his distance. Drax tries to clinch up. Drax scores with a nice head shot. Nice takedown defense from Valasquez. No joy for Drax on that attempt. Drax avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valasquez throws a right hand that Drax ducks under and follows up with a left that Drax also avoids with ease. Drax swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Drax dives in and grabs Valasquez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Valasquez pushes down on Drax's head and hops out. Drax fails with a takedown attempt. Drax shoots in but Valasquez avoids the takedown attempt easily. Valasquez ducks under a wild hook from Drax.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Drax throws a head kick that Valasquez semi-blocks.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Drax is defended easily by Valasquez. An inside leg kick from Drax misses. Valasquez stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Drax. Sir Drax is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Drax scores with a jab. Drax gets a takedown into half guard. Drax moves into full mount! Valasquez won't be happy about that!
And that's the end of the fight! Sir Drax showed his dominance in that final round. Well Drax has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
