PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between lewis the bomb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, lewis the bomb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Nate Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
the bomb throws a series of punches but Diaz moves out of range.
Diaz lands with a nice combination. the bomb backs away looking to recover.
Diaz wants to clinch.
A punch combination from Diaz misses.

the bomb drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Diaz is letting the bomb control him for a moment.
Diaz manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
the bomb controlling the action here.
Diaz tries to roll over but the bomb keeps him under control.
Diaz gets full guard.
the bomb has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Diaz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. the bomb is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Diaz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take the bomb's back instead.
Diaz lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Even with his hooks in, Diaz manages to miss with strikes from the back.

the bomb is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Diaz off. It looks like it's working - Diaz slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! the bomb displaying calm under pressure there.

Diaz works over the bomb's head and body with a nice combination.

the bomb drives through with a takedown into guard.

the bomb avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Diaz looks gassed!

Diaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. the bomb doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. the bomb manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Diaz keeping moving, preventing the bomb from controlling successfully.
Diaz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
the bomb trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom.
the bomb is really struggling to control Diaz but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
the bomb pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now.
the bomb is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

the bomb tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

the bomb closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - the bomb lands in his opponent's guard.
the bomb not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Diaz is looking to stand up but the bomb isn't so interested in that idea.
the bomb is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
the bomb trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom.
the bomb is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. the bomb gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Nate Diaz will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Diaz fails with the takedown

and the bomb decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Diaz's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and the bomb defends well.
the bomb is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Diaz has an active guard here but the bomb has managed to pass into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Diaz is refusing to be controlled, as the bomb sits in half guard.
the bomb is taking a breather. Diaz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Diaz looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Diaz pushes the bomb off looking to stand but the bomb dives back in and keeps control.

the bomb trying to control the action but Diaz is working from the bottom.
lewis the bomb overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Diaz is trying to stand back up but the bomb is controlling him

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

the bomb would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Diaz scrambles and gets back to his feet.

the bomb looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Diaz is looking to sinch up a triangle. the bomb throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Diaz's body to avoid the submission. Diaz has instead reached around the bomb's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Diaz arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Nate Diaz!
