Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Tarudo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Martin St Louis! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tarudo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tarudo taking a breather here. Tarudo is looking to take a break and control but St Louis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. St Louis wants to control but Tarudo postures up. The referee asks Tarudo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tarudo prefers to stall for the moment though. Tarudo is trying to get an arm triangle but St Louis is defending well. St Louis is looking to regain half guard here but Tarudo keeps moving and retains side control. Tarudo trying to control the action but St Louis is working from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. St Louis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
St Louis attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Tarudo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A big left from St Louis misses. St Louis feints and as Tarudo raises his hands in defense, St Louis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. St Louis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tarudo has his feet on St Louis's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. St Louis throws a body kick that misses. St Louis throws a leg kick but Tarudo moved away. St Louis tries a head kick but it misses.
Tarudo has his takedown stuffed and St Louis counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. St Louis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tarudo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. St Louis missing with the ground and pound from half guard. St Louis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tarudo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. St Louis tries to pass to full mount but Tarudo defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tarudo manages to escape and get back to his feet! Tarudo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Tarudo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! This has been an exciting period of action! Tarudo swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and St Louis is now in Tarudo's guard. A big mistake from Tarudo there, giving up the dominant position! Tarudo is breathing heavily. St Louis wants to control from the top but Tarudo keeps moving. St Louis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Tarudo wants to sweep here but St Louis controlling him for the moment. Tarudo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. St Louis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. St Louis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Tarudo keeping moving, preventing St Louis from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. St Louis is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Tarudo is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. St Louis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tarudo is keeping the position for now.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. St Louis takes a swing at Tarudo's ribcage but misses. Tarudo looking for a takedown here - he's got it. St Louis keeping full guard, as Tarudo tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. St Louis looking to control.
Tarudo trying to control the position from guard on top but St Louis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. St Louis pushes a forearm under Tarudo's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Tarudo is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
