Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Alkofer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alexandre Storti! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alkofer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Storti swats away the attempt to clinch by Alkofer. Storti will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Storti shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Alkofer is defending against the submission attempts here by Storti.
Alkofer tries to roll over but Storti keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Storti throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Storti is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Alkofer manages to get to full guard.
Alkofer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Alkofer is looking to stand up but Storti isn't so interested in that idea. Storti landing some decent shots from guard. Storti preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alkofer is trying to hold Storti in close to prevent damage but Storti has managed to pass into half guard.
Alkofer wants to get back to his feet.
Alkofer wants to get back to full guard. Alkofer gets full guard. Storti drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Alkofer dives on top into guard. Storti looks gassed! Storti looking for a guillotine here but Alkofer defends easily.
Alkofer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alkofer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Alkofer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Alexandre Storti will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Alkofer. Alkofer stands up and we're back to a striking position. Chris Alkofer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Storti shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Alkofer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Storti is looking for a triangle here but Alkofer uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Alkofer happy to just control the position for now. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alkofer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alkofer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Alkofer moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Storti looks to move to half guard but instead Alkofer has passed into mount! Damn! Alkofer is in the full mount, landing strikes. Alkofer landing strikes from the mount and Storti is in trouble! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alkofer sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alkofer lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Storti hang on? Alkofer landing shots from mount. Alkofer controlling the pace for now. Alkofer prevents Storti from getting the reversal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Alkofer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Storti is trying to escape the mount.
Alkofer sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Alkofer dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Storti avoids the head kick by Alkofer.
Alkofer tries for a takedown but Storti circles away easily and Storti counters with a nice double leg into guard. Storti is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Alkofer is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Alkofer has escaped and now he's on top! Alkofer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Storti is keeping the position for now. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alkofer showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Storti looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Storti has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Alkofer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Storti.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Storti looks to move to half guard but instead Alkofer has passed into mount! Damn! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Storti looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Alkofer connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Storti to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alkofer working for the choke. Alkofer is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Alkofer is trying to stick to Storti's back but Storti is turning into Alkofer. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Alkofer's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Storti.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alkofer controlling the position. Alkofer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Storti looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Alkofer wants to free his trapped foot but Storti is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that's the end of the fight! Chris Alkofer showed his dominance in that final round. Well Alkofer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
