Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Griffin!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch but Lydell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lydell tries to clinch there but Griffin circles away.
Lydell wants to clinch up but Griffin keeps it at a distance.
Some wild striking there from Lydell.
Griffin tries to land a front kick but Lydell steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Griffin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lydell napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Griffin fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Griffin misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Griffin in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Griffin misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Lydell is trying to buck Griffin off.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lydell fails in his attempt to clinch.
Griffin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lydell circles away.
A big left from Lydell misses.

Lydell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Griffin, pushing him back against the cage.
Griffin is trying to drag Lydell to the mat but Lydell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Lydell breaks the clinch.
Griffin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Griffin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lydell's waist but Lydell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Griffin off to one side.
Chuck Lydell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Griffin.
No luck for Griffin with that takedown attempt.
Griffin looks gassed!

Lydell moves into range and clinches up with Griffin.

Lydell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lydell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Griffin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

It looks like Joe Griffin has been cut.

Lydell closes the distance and pushes Griffin back into the cage.
Griffin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lydell lands with a left to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lydell gets through Griffin's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Lydell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Griffin has Lydell up against the cage in a clinch.
Griffin with a knee to the head.
Still in the clinch, Lydell scores with a nice short uppercut.
Griffin is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lydell pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Lydell gets through Griffin's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Lydell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chuck Lydell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Griffin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lydell walks away with a smile on his face. Griffin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Griffin tries to clinch but Lydell is having none of it.
Lydell fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Griffin to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Griffin looks to clinch but Lydell throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Griffin taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Chuck Lydell!
