Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Caleb SmithIII (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew DW (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). SmithIII comes into the arena with The Silver Surfer blaring out of the sound system. Caleb SmithIII has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
SmithIII slips a straight right by DW.
SmithIII swats away the attempt to clinch by DW.
DW wants to clinch up but SmithIII keeps it at a distance.

SmithIII fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. DW sprawls well initially but SmithIII persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
DW regains full guard. Nicely done.
SmithIII has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
SmithIII wants to pass the guard but DW is keeping the position.
DW looking for a sweep. Not yet DW, not yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now DW is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DW looks like he's trying to stand up.

DW is trying to defend against the ground and pound but SmithIII scores with a couple of nice shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
DW tries to close the distance and clinch up but SmithIII swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Drew DW seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

SmithIII shoots in and bounces DW off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

SmithIII can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as DW is looking to escape.
DW is in all sorts of trouble here.
DW is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
SmithIII postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. DW looks a forlorn figure.

Caleb SmithIII dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. SmithIII obliges.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

DW feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
