Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Diego Mariachi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Michikano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Mariachi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Michikano!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mariachi gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Mariachi as Michikano tries to tie him up.
Michikano is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mariachi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Michikano has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mariachi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Diego Mariachi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Michikano.

Mariachi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mariachi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Michikano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mariachi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mariachi is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mariachi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Michikano doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Michikano manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Mariachi counters by clinching up.

Michikano tries to circle away but Mariachi has him pinned against the cage.

Michikano wants to break free but Mariachi has control.

Mariachi looking for a sweep. Not yet Mariachi, not yet.

Michikano is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mariachi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mariachi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mariachi tries to get out of the position.

Mariachi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Michikano is aware though and is defending well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Michikano wants to pass the guard but Mariachi is keeping the position.
Michikano postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Mariachi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Michikano tries to free his leg and advance position but Mariachi is retaining full guard.
Mariachi looking to control but Michikano passes into half guard.

Michikano is trying to work for a kimura but Mariachi is defending well.

Mariachi wants to get back to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mariachi wants to control but Michikano is keeping busy.

Mariachi is defending against the submission attempts here by Michikano.

Michikano is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Mariachi is trying to control but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diego Mariachi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Michikano tries to keep at a distance but Mariachi has taken the fight into the clinch.

Mariachi manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Mariachi wants to get back to his feet but Michikano is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Mariachi tries to improve position but can't.

Mariachi pushes Michikano away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Michikano gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Michikano tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Michikano has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Michikano is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mariachi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Michikano is breathing heavily.
Mariachi gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Michikano in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mariachi tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Michikano!
