PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tourette Syndrome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lawrence Cohen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cohen has chosen Season in the Abyss as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tourette Syndrome!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lawrence Cohen!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Syndrome scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Syndrome misses the shot to the body.
Syndrome tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cohen was well out of range. Poor timing from Syndrome.
Syndrome fails with an attempt to clinch.
Syndrome closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Cohen has a takedown stuffed.
Cohen shoots in but Syndrome avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Cohen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Syndrome.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Cohen.
Cohen moves away from the strike by Syndrome.
Syndrome throws a series of punches but Cohen moves out of range.
Syndrome fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Syndrome stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Syndrome wants it to stay on the feet.
Tourette Syndrome has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawrence Cohen.

Cohen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Syndrome wants to improve his position but Cohen is controlling well.

Cohen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Syndrome is just riding it out for now. Cohen eventually gives up the hold.

Syndrome manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cohen manages to get himself to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cohen is on top in guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nice defenses there by Cohen.
Tourette Syndrome seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cohen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Syndrome is pulling down on Cohen's head. It's preventing any offense from Cohen, at least for the moment.

Syndrome looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Syndrome can't keep his opponent in guard - Cohen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Cohen wants to control but Syndrome is keeping him busy.

Cohen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cohen wants to take a breather but Syndrome is having none of it.
Cohen stalling away here and it's allowed Syndrome to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lawrence Cohen dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Syndrome throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Syndrome throws a right hand that Cohen ducks under and follows up with a left that Cohen also avoids with ease.
Syndrome misses with a two punch combination.
Cohen connects with a solid leg kick.
Syndrome slaps away a takedown attempt from Cohen, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Syndrome rushes Cohen and presses him up against the cage.
Syndrome is trying to force a seperation but Cohen has the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Cohen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Syndrome pulls his leg out and moves away.
Cohen fails with a takedown attempt.

Cohen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Syndrome swivels and escapes.
Syndrome fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Syndrome misses with a jab, cross combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cohen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cohen dives in and grabs Syndrome's left leg, looking for a takedown. Syndrome pushes down on Cohen's head and hops out.
Cohen shoots for a double leg takedown but Syndrome sprawls well. He's pushed Cohen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Cohen wants a takedown but no success here.
Syndrome manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Syndrome wants to break free but Cohen has control.

Cohen prevents Syndrome from breaking the clinch.

Syndrome is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Cohen is keeping busy.
Cohen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Syndrome avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Cohen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Syndrome is really struggling to control Cohen but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Cohen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Syndrome can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tourette Syndrome dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Syndrome connects with a crisp jab.
Syndrome tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cohen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Syndrome throws a body punch but Cohen moves out of range.
Cohen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Syndrome swivels and escapes.
Cohen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Syndrome as he avoids it easily.
Tourette Syndrome has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawrence Cohen.
No joy there for Syndrome, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Syndrome misses with a two punch combination.
Syndrome throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Cohen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Syndrome sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cohen somewhat.

Cohen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Syndrome pinned against the cage. Syndrome gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cohen misses with a takedown attempt - Syndrome sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Cohen moves out of range of the strikes.
Syndrome throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cohen.
Syndrome will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cohen shoots in looking for a takedown. Syndrome tries to sprawl out of it but Cohen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Syndrome manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Syndrome stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Syndrome wants it to stay on the feet.
Syndrome throws a series of punches but Cohen avoids them all with ease.

Syndrome scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Syndrome looks to land a combination but Cohen avoids it well.

Cohen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cohen showed some decent athleticism there.
Syndrome is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Cohen seems to be working for a kimura but Syndrome defends the submission attempt.

Cohen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Syndrome dives on top into guard.

Syndrome got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cohen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Syndrome has managed to get both his arms back between Cohen's legs - danger averted.
Syndrome wants to pass the guard but Cohen is keeping the position.
Cohen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

I think Syndrome has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
