Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Barbosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diego Barbosa told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barbosa fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Garcia could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Garcia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Barbosa moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Barbosa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Garcia's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Garcia has closed the distance and engaged Barbosa in a clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Joey Garcia will probably get the nod.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Garcia for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Barbosa is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Garcia pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Barbosa is pushing down on Garcia's leg trying to pass to half guard. Garcia is fighting to maintain full guard but Barbosa has managed to sneak the leg through.

Barbosa lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Barbosa is trying to control. Garcia wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Garcia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barbosa looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Garcia with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Garcia pushes Barbosa off looking to stand but Barbosa dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barbosa slips a nice elbow through Garcia's hands, connecting with Garcia's forehead.
Barbosa takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Garcia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barbosa on the ground.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barbosa connects with a nice short shot to Garcia's temple.
