PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Afonso Severo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Remus Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacobs has chosen Quasi Morto - Ennio Morricone as his entrance music. Remus Jacobs told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danga de danga de dang - Jacobs scores with a four punch combination!
Jacobs fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Severo.

Severo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jacobs walks away with a smile on his face. Severo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Severo tries to close the distance and clinch but Jacobs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Severo. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Jacobs smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Severo wants to clinch but Jacobs slips to the side

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Severo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jacobs just stands there and leans against the cage.

Jacobs is pressed up against the cage. Severo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jacobs down to the mat. Jacobs avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Severo crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Jacobs - the referee stops the clock and Severo gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Jacobs. Severo manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Jacobs stalks Severo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Severo's face. Severo staggers backwards, shaken.
