Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josh Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Chavez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes throws a strike but Chavez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Barnes wriggles free and stands up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Barnes has control of Chavez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Chavez regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Barnes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chavez sprawls well. Chavez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Barnes gets slowly back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chavez's waist but Chavez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Barnes off to one side.

Chavez had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Barnes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Chavez Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Barnes's back instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Josh Barnes.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Barnes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
