Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between JJ Oppapatika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Sushimawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oppapatika comes to the cage accompanied by My Way. Sushimawa has chosen Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sushimawa tries to clinch there but Oppapatika circles away.
JJ Oppapatika seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sushimawa staying out of range there.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sushimawa.
Sushimawa walks into a jab.
Oppapatika throws a hook to the side of Sushimawa's head but Sushimawa sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A swing and a miss from Oppapatika.
Oppapatika defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sushimawa.
Oppapatika throws a looping overhand right but Sushimawa ducks down to avoid it.
Oppapatika throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sushimawa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Oppapatika swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sushimawa wants to clinch up but Oppapatika keeps it at a distance.
Sushimawa shoots in for a double leg but Oppapatika sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
JJ Oppapatika has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akira Sushimawa.

Sushimawa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Oppapatika.
Oppapatika thows a body shot but no joy.
Sushimawa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Oppapatika as he jumps to the side.

Oppapatika connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sushimawa's hands.
It looks like Akira Sushimawa has been cut.
Sushimawa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Oppapatika swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sushimawa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sushimawa lands in his opponent's guard.
Oppapatika is looking to stand up but Sushimawa isn't so interested in that idea.

Oppapatika uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Sushimawa moves out of range as Oppapatika strikes.
Sushimawa dives in and grabs Oppapatika's left leg, looking for a takedown. Oppapatika pushes down on Sushimawa's head and hops out.
Oppapatika just misses with a punch to the body.
Oppapatika lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sushimawa circles away quickly and effectively.

Oppapatika leaves Sushimawa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nice jab there from Oppapatika.
JJ Oppapatika is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sushimawa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Oppapatika sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sushimawa somewhat.
Sushimawa fails to land the takedown.
Oppapatika misses the jab.
A combination from Oppapatika does no damage.

Oppapatika looks to throw the jab but Sushimawa is out of range.
Oppapatika lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sushimawa at a distance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oppapatika cracks Sushimawa with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Oppapatika has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sushimawa to stand back up!
Oppapatika throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Oppapatika walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Sushimawa drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Oppapatika swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Sushimawa's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). JJ Oppapatika!
