Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davi Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chuck Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Davi Alves! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet. Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alves's waist but Alves gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side. Alves shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Alves is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Smith is staying active underneath Alves, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Alves landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Smith looking for submissions off his back. Smith looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Well, if Alves is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Alves is nestled in close to Smith, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Alves decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Smith is breathing heavily. Alves looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Smith shoots and misses and Alves counters with a shoot takedown. Smith fights it but they end up in guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smith controls Alves momentarily but Alves frees himself. Alves trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Alves controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. This has been an exciting period of action! Smith throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Alves escapes and throws Smith's legs to the side, diving into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Smith is pushing Alves's head away, looking to escape. Alves manages to hold on to the position though. Alves working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Alves is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Alves is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alves might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Smith kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith is trying to get back to half guard. Smith is working to avoid the ground and pound but Alves connects with a decent elbow.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Smith shoots and misses and Alves counters with a single leg into guard. Smith didn't expect that. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Smith doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Alves not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Davi Alves dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Alves scores with a takedown into Smith's guard. Smith keeping moving, preventing Alves from controlling successfully. Smith is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alves pushes down on Smith's leg and manages to get into half guard. Alves with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smith trying to control here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves is working for a submission of some sort.
Smith wants to control but Alves is keeping busy.
Alves thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smith's head. Alves with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Smith regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Alves is standing up over Smith. Smith looks to escape but Alves dives into side control.
Alves thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Smith wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Alves is trying to get an arm triangle but Smith is defending well. Smith wants to control but Alves postures up. Alves is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Smith has escaped the position, nice work there. Smith tries to buck Alves off but Alves is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Smith wants to clinch but Alves slips to the side and Alves counters by moving into the clinch. Alves tries for a takedown but Smith manages to get underhooks.
Smith gets a trip takedown into half guard. Alves gets back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith throws a big right hand that misses. Alves manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Alves counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smith's guard now. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Alves passes Smith's left leg - he's now in half guard. Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Davi Alves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Alves misses with a low kick. Alves throws a nice looking combination but Smith bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Alves tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Smith throws a combination that misses and Alves counters by clinching up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith goes for a takedown attempt but Alves pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith tries for a takedown but Alves circles away easily and Alves counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Alves stands up and beckons Smith to join him on the feet. Smith shoots and misses and Alves counters with a takedown into side control. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Alves fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Alves creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Alves wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well. Alves lands a decent elbow from side control. Smith sneaks back into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith looking for submissions off his back. Alves is pressing down on Smith's thigh, looking to free his foot. Smith is holding on for now. Alves throwing shots but Smith is blocking nicely. Alves not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Alves trying to control from half guard but Smith is working away. Smith looking for submissions off his back.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Smith closes the distance looking to clinch and Alves counters with a solid body kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Smith scores with a hook. Chuck Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Alves scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Alves stands up. Smith fails with the takedown so Alves counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
And that's the end of the fight! Davi Alves comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Alves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
