Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Swimmer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ulisses Coimbra! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coimbra fails to land with a series of punches.
No luck for Swimmer with that takedown attempt. Swimmer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Coimbra circles away quickly and effectively. Swimmer doesn't manage to clinch there - Coimbra circles away.
Coimbra on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Jack Swimmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Swimmer is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Coimbra's half guard. Coimbra tries to kick Swimmer off but Swimmer keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Swimmer is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Swimmer trying to control from half guard but Coimbra is working away. Swimmer is looking for a kimura but Coimbra is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Swimmer to get the leverage. Swimmer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Coimbra is looking to escape. Swimmer performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Swimmer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Coimbra.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coimbra throws a body punch but Swimmer moves out of range. Coimbra defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Swimmer. Swimmer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Coimbra as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Swimmer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Swimmer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Swimmer is breathing heavily. Swimmer takes a body punch but keeps moving. A shot to de liver by Coimbra. Beautiful body shot. Coimbra fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Coimbra stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Coimbra wants it to stay on the feet. Coimbra bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Swimmer's head backwards. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Coimbra bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Swimmer! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Swimmer is rocked!
It looks like Jack Swimmer has been cut. Coimbra trying to stand up but can't free himself from Swimmer's guard. Oh Swimmer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Coimbra stands and steps away. Swimmer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Swimmer seems to have got his legs back now. Ulisses Coimbra is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coimbra drops Swimmer with a left right combo! Coimbra follows him down to the ground into side control.
Swimmer wants to control but Coimbra postures up. Coimbra decides to take the fight back to the feet. Coimbra tests Swimmer's chin there with a solid looking shot. Coimbra drops Swimmer with a left right combo! Coimbra follows him down to the ground into side control.
Swimmer is rocked! Swimmer tries to improve position but can't. Swimmer is letting Coimbra control him for a moment. Swimmer is looking to regain half guard here but Coimbra keeps moving and retains side control. Coimbra decides to take the fight back to the feet. Coimbra connects with a jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Swimmer. Coimbra stuns Swimmer with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Coimbra lands a nice shot to the body.
Coimbra scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Coimbra's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Coimbra duly obliges. Swimmer gets the takedown into side control. Swimmer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Coimbra tries to escape but Swimmer is in control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Swimmer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Coimbra keeps working. Coimbra is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Swimmer has just dragged him back down to the mat. Swimmer is working to tighten is grip on Coimbra's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Coimbra has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Swimmer is really squeezing tight and eventually Coimbra passes out! Swimmer breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
