Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Leathel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timmy McMuffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Timmy McMuffin!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMuffin misses with a few strikes there.
McMuffin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Leathel rushes McMuffin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

McMuffin has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Leathel is trying to keep an underhook but McMuffin manages to get the takedown into half guard.

McMuffin stands up and beckons Leathel to join him on the feet.
Leathel moves out of range of the strikes.

Leathel looks for a takedown but McMuffin sprawls well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McMuffin throws a right and a left that Leathel avoids nicely.

McMuffin has Leathel pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. McMuffin pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Leathel tumbling to the mat - McMuffin dives into Leathel's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McMuffin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

McMuffin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Leathel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Leathel has escaped and now he's on top!

Leathel wants to get up but he can't break McMuffin's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McMuffin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McMuffin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Leathel manages to get himself to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


McMuffin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McMuffin wants it to stay on the feet.
Leathel shoots in looking for a takedown. McMuffin tries to sprawl out of it but Leathel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McMuffin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Leathel here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Jay Leathel will probably get the nod.
